FACULTY OF ARTS AND SCIENCES
Our Faculty was founded in the academic year of 2003-2004 depending on the University of Gaziantep as a total of 8 departments including the Turkish Language and Literature, Western Languages and Literatures, History, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. In the academic year of 2009-2010, the faculty was composed of 14 departments of which Philosophy, Psychology, Eastern Languages and Literatures (Arabic Language and Literature),, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Sociology and Art History began education and training. In 2010 fall semester, the numbers of departments which actively started education and training by taking students to the departments are actually seven and also there are evening education of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, and Turkish Language and Literature. It is supposed that as of the academic year of 2011- 2012 two departments which are Mathematics and Molecular Biology and Genetics will be giving education in bachelor degree. In this respect, Dear Professor İsmail Güvenç is affording assistance and financial support. Our faculty graduated his first students in the academic year of 2007-2008. The third graduates of our faculty took their diplomas in 2009.
Made by İstanbul-Kilis Foundation , three-storey Faculty of Arts and Sciences gives education at 10 classrooms, an amphitheater, a conference hall, 3 undergraduate laboratories, 3 research laboratories and a canteen. It has 6200m2. For this reason, I would like to express my gratitude and respect to Kilis Foundation members due to their benevolent works, but our existing building can’t be sufficient because of the gradual increase in the numbers of departments that actively give education, students and the academic staff. Next year in the academic year of 2011-2012 we may have some problems in settling because of the developing departments in our faculty. This circumstance shows that we witness a fast development in our faculty. Via our dearest Rector’s approval, our faculty’s space requirement is resolved by Central Class Building’s 4 lecture halls which are allocated to our faculty.
